Multi-City PSA Campaign Tops 2009 Highlights
Shaken Baby Prevention, Inc., with the help of our partners in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., began running the public service announcement, Shaking a Baby Shatters Lives, on the backs of buses in April 2007. This campaign will launch in Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, and we plan to expand it internationally by fall 2009! Community Activist Makes a Difference in Manassas
The Founder and Executive Director of Shaken Baby Prevention is Catherine Sanders. Shaken Baby Prevention, Inc. is a very special 501(c) (3), established in honor of Sanders' son, Ryan, a shaken baby victim and survivor (www.sbsprevention.org). "Raising a child with special needs has shown me how difficult it can be to ensure your child has everything needed for a full life," Sanders says. She is a member of the Shaken Baby Council, a national organization for SBS prevention and stricter sentencing for offenders. Sanders founded the national billboard campaign, Shaking A Baby Shatters Lives. "Cathy Sanders has been a champion, and she's had an everyday reminder of what can happen to someone you love." (Washington Post, 12/28/00)
